Do I still need to see a dentist at least once a year?
Yes, it is recommended that you see a dentist at least every 12-18 months. We focus on preventing disease, not restoring it. Dental hygiene examinations are performed at every appointment, and if we see any concerns these will be reviewed with you. We use a collaborate approach, providing referrals to local dentists when it is necessary. If you have a dentist you trust, please keep seeing them for dental exams and x-rays on the schedule they have recommended for you.
Do you direct bill my insurance company?
Absolutely, and any dental coverage you have for care in a traditional office, can be used for Independent Dental Hygiene services. We direct bill to most insurance carriers, although there are still a few companies that do not accept electronic billing. In this case, the client pays the complete cost of their dental treatment up-front, then submits their dental claim to their insurance company. If you are not sure what dental services your insurance company covers, we can contact them for you. Due to privacy regulations in Canada, insurance companies often only provide policy details to the insured, but we will do what we can to help you. Smiles4Miles follows the suggested fees in the Ontario Dental Hygienists’ Association Fee Guide.
